Inclusive Theatre
Season Start is Sell-Out
A partnership between the Arena Theatre, Outside Centre and
Black Country Touring to support disability arts and inclusive theatre
brings four of the UK’s leading theatre companies to Wolverhampton.
The partnership are delighted that the first production in the programme, the
nationally acclaimed Mind the Gap, on stage last week, was a sell-out run
of their
award-winning production of Of Mice and Men (adapted by
Mike Kenny). This included an extra performance added to cater for
the high demand for tickets.
At the end of month, the innovative
Face Front Inclusive Theatre presents Laundry Boy,
a heart-warming tale of Martin’s journey from dependence to independence.
It is devised and performed by an team including award-winning writers, Julie
McNamara and Ray Downing, Deaf performer David Sands, Becky Allen and Learning
Disabled actors Peter Faventi and Ellen Goodey.
The production is in BSL
and spoken English with integrated audio description.
Later on in the season The Krazy Kat Theatre return to the Arena with their
innovative and imaginative visual theatre using music, masks, puppets, dance,
song and fully integrated sign language. The Victorian Mikado is on Monday
23rd May.
For ages 7 to 11.
Hijinx
Theatre also makes a return
visit to the Arena Theatre with a brand new inclusive production,
Old Hands, on Friday 10th June.
